MONROVIA, November 18 (LINA)  - An official of the Access Bank has said the bank’s continued operations are vital to the overall health of the Liberian economy, especially in this challenging time.

The acting Head of Small Medium Enterprise Banking (SME) at Access Bank, Horatio Weedor, made the statement on Monday in Monrovia when the International Finance Corporation (IFC) delivered several hygiene and Ebola educational materials to the Bank.

He noted that the aid from IFC will help ensure that its clients’ business activities go on as safely as possible as the bank supports hundreds of smaller businesses in Liberia with loans and training.

The Access Bank official said IFC has helped the bank increase its support to small businesses and expand its financial services to underserved parts of Liberia.

The items donated include hundreds of Veronica Buckets, soap, boxes of bleach, medical thermometers, and educational posters valued over US$1,000.

Presenting the items, IFC Liberia Resident Representative, Frank Ajilore, said the donation is his institution’s way of boosting Liberia’s private sector, though Ebola has slowed down business activities and trade.

Ajilore disclosed that IFC previously announced a support package of at least US$450 million in commercial financing that will enable trade, investment and employment in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone
