MONROVIA, November 25 (LINA) - Defense Lawyer Arthur Johnson has requested the Judge of Criminal Court “D” for severance trial of Beyan Taylor who was charged and incarcerated at the Monrovia Central Prison for alleged armed robbery.
Taylor, Andy Thomas, Hilary Bernard and Izuagie Israel were on November 8, 2013 arrested by police for allegedly armed robbing the Liberia Bank for Development and Investment (LBDI) in the JJY Community in Gardnerville, outside Monrovia.
According to the Liberia News Agency, the indictment against the four defendants indicated they allegedly held employees of the bank at gunpoint, demanding that they be taken to the bank’s vault.
Johnson said the request guided by law and facts and is supported by the evidence of discovery in the possession of other co-defendants of the office of the Public Defender, noting that his plea is contradictory and antagonistic to the plea and defenses of other co- defendant.
Meanwhile, the Presiding Judge of the Criminal Court “D” at the Temple of Justice, Judge Nelson Tokpa, said arguments in the motion and its resistance will be entertained Wednesday.
The four defendants are currently incarcerated at the Monrovia Central Prison.
