MONROVIA, December 1 (LINA) - Nimba County Representative Risks Toweh has submitted a proposed Act to the House of Representatives to create Toweh Town as a city within Boe-Quilla Administrative District in the county.

Toweh in a letter to House Speaker J. Alexander Tyler, dated November 25, explained that it was prudent that Plenary grants the town a city status because it is one of the oldest and largest in the county, comprising no less than 150 villages and 22 towns.

According to the Liberia News Agency, the Nimba County District 6 Lawmaker informed his colleagues that the town has a population of 8,000, and that the inhabitants are development-oriented as evidenced by the establishment of numerous institutions of learning and market buildings, among others.

Following the reading of the letter on Thursday, November 27, Plenary
forwarded it to the Committees on Internal Affairs, Judiciary, Ways, Means and Finance for scrutiny with the mandate to report in two weeks.
