MONROVIA, December 4 (LINA) - Jurors at the Criminal Court “A” at the Temple of Justice have brought down a guilty verdict against Cacious Bracewell in the murder of Benedict Workpa, a resident of Arthington, Montserrado County early last year.

The jury of six, comprising three women and three men, reached the unanimous decision Wednesday after more than two hours of deliberation considering the evidence adduced during the trial, according to the Liberia News Agency.

The indictment against Bracewell following his arrest by police on August 6, 2013 accused him of murdering Workpa, an allegation he has denied since his arrest and during the 19-day trial that began on November 10, 2014.

“I was on my way home from selling at the Duala Market when I was ambushed and arrested by the community dwellers, accusing me of killing Bennedict Workpa which I know nothing about,” he told the court in his testimony.

Meanwhile, Presiding Judge Boima Kontoe of the Criminal Court “A” has said final judgment against Bracewell, who is currently incarcerated at the Monrovia Central Prison, will be rendered within the statutory time.
