MONROVIA, December 22 (LINA)-The Executive Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), Dr. J. Mills Jones, has assured Liberians of the CBL’s continuous preparedness to help improve the livelihood of Liberians.

According to the Liberia News Agency, Governor Jones gave the assurance over the weekend at the official issuance of temporary ownership certificates by the  National Housing Authority (NHA) to Brewerville  Housing Estate residents held in the conference room of the Liberia Bank for Development and Investment under the auspices of NHA in collaboration with the LBDI.

The Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) provided ten million U.S dollars to the National Housing Authority through the Liberia Bank for Development and Investment (LBDI) for 10-year housing mortgage financing.

About 80 percent of the US$10 million provided by the CBL has already been disbursed by LBDI to finance estate housing, commercial housing and individual housing.

“This is just the beginning, and we can assure you, Madam President, that there are lots more to come,” the CBL Governor said.

He assured the gathering that the CBL would ensure that LBDI makes available affordable housing for Liberians, noting, “Low income housing creates economic opportunity and employment for the people,” said Governor Jones.

Sixteen tenants received temporary ownership of their homes in Browerville; while David K. Doe, who made 100 per cent payment for his mortgage, received his registered deeds.
