(MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Friday, February 7, 2014) President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf convened a meeting on Friday with the Chairmen of the Boards and the Managing

Directors of the major State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), to discuss aligning their corporate social responsibility and public relations activities with Government’s policies and priorities.

Also discussed, according to an Executive Mansion release, was the need for these enterprises to make on-time contributions to the National Budget, and to comply with international financial reporting standards, as articulated in the Public Financial Management Law.

The meeting also discussed the need to align Government’s communications strategy with that of the SOEs, and how to improve the communication of Government’s priorities.

The SOEs also agreed on the need to coordinate on priorities, and looked forward to the meetings to be held with the Minister of Finance to discuss how to improve methods of reporting their dividends and budget contributions to the Government.

Attending Friday’s meeting were the following officials of Government: Dr. Herman Brown and Mr. T. Nelson Williams, for the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC); Mrs. Teresa Leigh Sherman and Mr. Binyah Kesselly for the Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA); Ambassador Nat Barnes and Madam Matilda Parker, for the National Port Authority (NPA); Cllr. Seward Cooper and Dr. Randolph McClain, for the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL); Dr. Angelique Weeks and the Commissioners of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA); and Madam Ciatta Bishop, incoming Director-General of the National Bureau on Concessions.

Also present were: Dr. Edward B. McClain, Jr., Minister of State for Presidential Affairs; Mr. Amara Konneh, Minister of Finance; Mr. Morris Dukuly, Minister of Internal Affairs; Mr. Lewis Brown, Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism; and Cllr. Wheatonia Dixon-Barnes, Acting Minister of Justice.
