MONROVIA,-January 12 (LINA)-The Capitol Building in Monrovia was a scene of celebration, fun and pageantry when 12 newly elected senators presented their certificates of election and other credentials to the Liberian Senate during the opening of its 4th Session Monday.
The elected senators are George Manneh Weah, Montserrado County, Joseph L. Kaipay, Grand Bassa County, Milton Teajay, Sinoe County, Gblehbo Brown, Maryland County, Jewel Howard Taylor, Bong County, Prince Y. Johnson, Nimba County, A. Marshall Davis, Grand Gedeh County and Stephen Zago, Lofa County.
Others are Francis L. Paye, Rivercess County, Alfred S. Chea, Grand Kru County, Commany Ba. Wesseh, River Gee County and Daniel Flomo Naethan, Gbarpolu County.
The joy of the ceremony continued as the 15 ranking senators and some 60 Representatives were ushered into their respective chambers by Speaker Alex Tyler and Vice President Joseph Boakai, after the hoisting of the flag and singing of the National Anthem.
The ectasy continued in the senate’s plenary where thousands of their supporters, ministers of government, local and international media as well as diplomats and foreign guests, comfortably witnessed democracy on displayin what the Vice President calls the “Elder’s House.”
