Govt. Announces Free Education For Kindergarten To Junior High Students

MONROVIA, January 8 (LINA) – The Government of Liberia has announced free education in all public schools from kindergarten to 9th grade.

According to a Ministry of Education announcement, students at these grade levels are not required to pay tuition and registration fees, while 10th to 12th grade students are required to pay only registration fees.
 
The Deputy Minister of Information for Public Affairs, Isaac Jackson read the announcement signed by the Director of Communication, J. Maxime Bleetahn and approved by Deputy Minister for Instruction, Hawah Goll-Kotchi at the ministry’s daily Ebola press briefing Thursday.
 
Jackson said the amount to be paid for grades 10 to 12 as registration fee is LD$700.00 which, according to him, will be paid in three installments.
 
He explained that LD$300 each  will be paid during the first two installments and LD$100 as the final installment, adding that no school is allowed to charge above the required fees.
