SANNIQUELLIE, Nov 1(LINA)-The Strengthening and Investigation Specialist at the international NGO Tetra Tech, William Thompson, has described as a serious lapse for a security unit to arrest, investigate, and levy fines against citizens without court proceedings.
Thompson said, based on these inconveniences, Tetra Tech has initiated a special training program for the Liberian Security sector; one of which is the three-day workshop that ended on Friday, October 31 at the Gender Office in Sanniquellie.
The Liberia News Agency reports that 30 representatives from various security apparatuses including the Emergency Response Unit, Liberia National Police, Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization, and Community Watch Forum of Liberia, Nimba Ccapter, attended the forum.
He said the program is aimed at creating mutual coordination among security units, and improving cooperation from community dwellers in fighting crimes.
The workshop addressed security collaboration and civic involvement during emergencies.
Tretra Tech is an international non-governmental organization based in California, U.S.A. engaged in resolving land disputes in Liberia with head office in Nimba County.
