MONROVIA November5 (LINA)- The Liberia National Police (LNP) has charged the Youth Chairman of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) with aggravated assault and kidnapping.

Jefferson Koijee was on October 21, 2014 arrested by police and taken to the Monrovia City Court for prosecution for his alleged involvement in a forceful abduction and causing serious bodily harm on Gbesalifo Montgomery, a member of CDC at the party’s headquarters.

Montgomery told police that Koijee allegedly called him on the above date expressing his disappointment in him (Montgomery) for parking his car in the yard of embattled CDC Chairman George who has reportedly been removed from the chairmanship.

According to Montgomery, he told Koijee as youth leaders, they need to do something to ensure peace in the party.

He stated that at that juncture, Koijee, Mulbah Morlu, and a group from Koijee’s “Sabu Unit” allegedly grabbed him from behind and flogged him mercilessly; then took him bodily into the back of the building and placed him in a small room.

However, Koijee denied the allegation in court on Tuesday, adding that it was purely misleading and without an iota of truth.

“It is a clever design to malign my hard-earned character,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Koijee is being detained at the Monrovia Central Prison.
