MONROVIA, November 6 (LINA)- A forum to review strategies aim to improve the quality of media and the role of journalists in enhancing development on the continent opens in Nairobi, Kenya on November 14.

The forum, to be held at the Sarova Panafric Hotel in Nairobi will also discuss a survey report on coverage and analysis of African development themes and critique coverage of the Ebola crisis and other infectious diseases.
Participants at the day-long forum will seek to find synergies in their work in the hope of improving their interventions in the industry.
According to a release from the African Media Institute (AMI) and organizer of the forum, the meeting will bring together more than 80 heads of media support organizations and associations, communications managers from regional institutions, foundations, and donor agencies.
The release said AMI will present a new strategy that identifies new measures to strengthen media performance and help narrow the gap between media content and the regional development agenda.
“We will be presenting our vision and strategy to colleagues in the sector and hoping to find grounds for common action and mutual support with other organizations,” said AMI Chief Executive Officer Eric Chinje.
AMI will also present the results of a survey it commissioned on how media in Africa cover issues of importance to continental development such as agriculture, nutrition, health, peace and security, the maritime economy, technology and environment and conservation.
