HARPER, November 11 (LINA) -The Fourth Judicial Circuit Court in Harper, Maryland County has opened for its November Term with a warning that those engaged in criminal conveyance of land will face the full weight of the law.

Delivering his charge to mark the formal opening of Court, Presiding Judge Benedict Holt said the Liberian civil war has given rise to increased number of land cases which are creating setbacks to peace and socio-economic stability.

He warned those who want to buy land to be careful as they could be guilty of third degree felony by knowingly purchasing land from people who are not the proper owners.

Judge Holt then referred to the court as the bedrock for peace in any country, and called on jurors to see their service to the court as a civic responsibility to their country.

The court opened with 24 cases on its docket, eight Criminal and 16 Civil, with the noticeable absence of the County Attorney Aloysius Allison and most members of the Maryland Bar Association.
