MONROVIA, November 19 (LINA) - The President Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Gbehzongar Findley, has assured that the 2014/2015 National Budget will be passed into law within the next two weeks.

Speaking at his regular monthly press conference at the Capitol Building Tuesday, Findley revealed that with the lifting of the State of Emergency, it is no longer prudent for the government to operate without a budget.

"Since the outbreak of the Ebola crisis, the country has been operating without a budget for about five months now," he noted.

In recent weeks, the Joint Legislative Committee on Ways, Means and Finance has been negotiating with state enterprises to contribute to a US$132 million budgetary gap to pass the 2014/2015 fiscal budget in the tune of US$605 million.

He added that the budgetary process is difficult as “many things can no longer reliably be estimated, including the revenue expected and alternative budget support.”
