MONROVIA, December 11 (LINA)-Police Inspector General Chris Massaquoi has warned private security firm owners to desist from using uniforms similar to that of the Liberia National Police (LNP).

He made the statement Thursday, when he launched the Community Watch Team on Bushord Island in Monrovia.

Inspector General Massaquoi said the situation was confusing members of the LNP, especially during their night patrols, as criminal gangs were using similar uniforms to carry out armed robberies at the night.

He cited a recent armed robbery incident in which six persons, including a Lebanese national, who allegedly sells face masks to criminals to hide their identities while committing crimes against peaceful citizens, were involved.

The Police Chief Inspector is also strongly warning foreign residents in Liberia against conniving with criminals to perpetrate crimes in the country because the law will be robustly enforced.

He then appealed to all well-meaning Liberians to cooperate with the police in the fight against crime, if the nation must remain peaceful.
