MONROVIA, November 20 (LINA) -Three Liberian Senators are appealing to the international community to send observers to monitor the December 16 Special Senatorial Election in spite of the Ebola pandemic.

Senators Lahai Lassanah of Bomi, Dallas Gueh of Rivercess and Henry Yallah of Bong counties made the call during the Senate's extraordinary session Tuesday following the reading of a report from the joint conference committees of the National Legislature on the poll.

According to the Senators, it is a general requirement that international observers provide the stamp of legitimacy to democratically contested elections across the world.

They welcomed international observers to Liberia to observe the election.

According to the lawmakers, in the absence of observers, it might be difficult to identify a perceived neutral body that will be able to authoritatively comment on the electoral process.
