MONROVIA, November 25 (LINA) - Despite the Ebola crisis, the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization (BIN) maintains excellent working relations with other security agencies to maintain peace and stability in Liberia, an official of the bureau has said.

BIN Commissioner Lemuel Reeves also outlined as a major achievement of BIN its ability to ensure that Liberia’s borders remain safe with no major incidents over a protracted period.

The BIN boss made the statement at the Ministry of Information daily Ebola press conference held at the ministry in Monrovia on Tuesday.

Commissioner Reeves also disclosed that BIN generated a total of US$3,316,640 and L$695,255 in revenue collected from immigration-related fees during the last fiscal year.

Commissioner Reeves also disclosed that due to the impact of the Ebola virus on the national economy, BIN collected a total of US$738,145 and L$164,020 from July to October 2014.

Reeves noted that threats from the Ebola virus resulted to a 65 percent departure of Liberia’s migrant community which led to a drop in revenue collection and a halt in major construction and other projects.

Reeves also revealed that given the important achievements made in the health crisis some of those aliens who left the country are gradually returning.
