MONROVIA, November 26 (LINA) –The Commissioner of Immigration and Naturalization (BIN), Colonel Lemuel Reeves, has disclosed the arrest of a female passenger of a commercial vehicle with 13 cartons of single barrel ammunition at the Ganta checkpoint.

Reeves did not disclose the name of the woman, but said her arrest recently forms part of efforts the bureau is making to crack down on violators of cross-border movements between Liberia and neighboring countries.

He made this revelation Tuesday at the Ministry of Information daily Ebola press briefing held at the Ministry in Monrovia.

Reeves also disclosed that three male passengers were arrested with 250 packs of single barrel ammunition and two pistols at the Salala Checkpoint on November 9.

He said BIN also confiscated from smugglers peanuts, corn seeds, bags of pepper, beans and tomatoes that were being illegally brought into the country.

He noted that even though these commodities are needed by Liberians during this health crisis, they should be brought into the country through legal commercial procedures.
