TUBMANBURG, December 8 (LINA) – A Senatorial aspirant for Bomi County in the upcoming Mid-term Senatorial Election, Haja Washington, has donated a 1.5 KV Generator and five bags of 50 kg rice to the Jenneh #3 Police Depot in Dewein District, Bomi County.

Presenting the items over the weekend, Madam Washington said the donation was her way of identifying with the depot at this time when they are finding it difficult to carry out their duties without electricity, especially at night.

Madam Washington disclosed that the gesture was based on a communication sent to her by the depot commander asking her to provide a generator for the depot in the district, stressing “This donation is not political but humanitarian.”

Receiving the items on behalf of the depot, Patrolman Lawrence Myers lauded Madam Washington for the gesture, noting, “Since the construction of the depot in 2012, it has been facing the problem of lack of electricity.”

Patrolman Myers said the absence of electricity has posed a serious hindrance to combating crime in the district, especially at night.

In remarks at the presentation ceremony, Dewein District Commissioner Foley Siryon said the gesture will help contain the crime rate in the district, and hoped that the items would be used for the intended purpose.
