Police Charge Man, 54, With Armed Robbery

MONROVIA, December 15 (LINA)-Police in Monrovia have arrested and charged a 54 year-old man identified as John Biailee with armed robbery, while three of his collaborators are at large.

The Liberia News Agency quotes a police charge sheet as saying, Biailee, a resident of the Parker Paint Community in Paynesville, was on December 12,2014 arrested in the Bernard Farm Community for armed robbing a Fula businessman Jaloh Asifu of the Paynesville Red-Light community.

Mr. Asifu is said to have lost US$3,500 cash and L$200,000 as well as two large flat screen televisions valued at US$1,400 (One thousand four hundred).

According to the charge sheet, during police preliminary investigation, it was established that the accused and his cohorts committed the crime, with some of the stolen items found with Biailee.

He and the other three who are at-large have meanwhile been charged with the commission of the crime of armed robbery in violation of new penal code of Liberia.

Biailee has been remanded at the Monrovia Central Prison pending court trial.
