Three convicted armed robbers Wednesday broke into tears after jurors at Criminal Court ‘D’ brought down a guilty verdict against them and subsequently a two-year sentence at

the Temple of Justice in Monrovia.

Judge Nelson Togba in his final judgment ruled that the jurors were not in error to convict the defendants of armed robbery because the weight of the evidence educed in court by state lawyers was overwhelming for their conviction.

The convicted men broken into tears by pleading to the court to reduce their sentence saying they regretted their action.

A week ago, the penal jury convicted the armed robber trio on ground that state lawyers proved their case beyond all reasonable doubts against them (defendants).

But defense lawyers have taken exception to the judge’s final judgment and announced an appeal for a retrial at the Supreme Court.

The convicted men were indicted in 2013 for tempting to rob the LBDI sub-breach in Garnerville on Somalia Drive but were arrested during the incident.
