MONROVIA, February 5 (LINA) -Youth and Sports Minister Eugene Nagbe says his Ministry will shortly submit a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Bill to the National Legislature for passage into law.
He noted that the passage of the bill is in keeping with international best practices to deliver the TVET, which is intended to equip young people in Liberia with knowledge aimed at making them more productive.
Addressing the Information Ministry regular Ebola Press Briefing Wednesday, he emphasized that technical and vocational skills are key to aiding government tackle youth unemployment.
Nagbe also hoped the Ministry will get cabinet endorsement of two developed and validated instruments for its TVET Roadmap, according to the Liberia News Agency.
He named the two instruments as a comprehensive national TVET Policy and a 5-year operational plan that includes a results framework matrix.
According to him, the 5-year plan centers on how the ministry intends to implement the comprehensive national TVET policy, and also sets specific areas of interventions and timelines.
Meanwhile, Nagbe revealed that the ministry has received commitments of over 24 million Euros from the Government of Liberia, European Union, UNESCO, World Bank, UNICEF and FAO towards funding activities under the plan.
