MONROVIA, October 3 (LINA) - Finance and Development Planning Minister Amara Konneh has urged the National Legislature to allow time for provision of the expenditure report on the Ebola Trust Fund to the body.

Minister Konneh said he will not hesitate to provide the report to the Legislature when the Ministry receives detailed expenditure report from implementing agencies of funding disbursed to them in the fight against the Ebola virus.

The Finance and Development Planning Minister’s statement was contained in his response to Chief Clerk Mildred Sayon’s letter dated September 21, 2014, requesting him to provide a report to the National Legislature on the Ebola Trust Fund, reports the Liberia News Agency.

In the letter, Konneh said, “I wish to inform you that the President sent a letter to the Speaker dated September 3, 2014 ref: #(EJS/MOS/RL532/2014) in which she submitted to the Speaker and the Honorable Members of the National Legislature the first report which covered up-to-date deposits and disbursements through the Ebola Trust Fund.”

He further informed the Chief Clerk that the first report President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf submitted also covered three-month budget as submitted by several implementing agencies with responsibility for the national response.

Minister Konneh also disclosed that the President met with the Executive Committee of the National Legislature on Monday, September 29, 2014, during which she informed Lawmakers of the expenditure report of the Ebola Trust Fund and that each spending and implementing agency will submit detailed expenditure report of the fund.

“In view of the foregoing, I urge the National Legislature to please wait for us to receive detailed expenditure reports from implementing agencies. After the reports are submitted, if the August Body has questions or concerns on the report, we will address those questions or concerns at that time,” Konneh added.
