VOINJAMA, December 30 (LINA)-The Christian Foundation International (CFI) has begun distributing food and non-food items valued at USD$ 12,287 to old folks in Lofa County.

The items include, rice, vegetable oil, soap, lappas, pots, sardines and beans. Speaking at the beginning of the distribution in Voinjama over the weekend, the head of Christian Foundation International, Rev. Dominic Zayzay, said the donation is the foundation’s way of identifying with old folks and less fortunate people whose relatives died as the result of the civil war and the deadly Ebola virus in Lofa County.
Rev. Zayzay said the gesture is also aimed at buttressing President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s effort to provide assistance to old folks and other less fortunate people, something which, he said, the President has been doing over the past years.
According to the Liberia News Agency, Rev. Zayzay said the plight of old folks and the less fortunate in the country should not be the concern of the president and government alone, but should also claim the attention of every Liberian.
He pointed out that the distribution will be carried out simultaneously in Voinjama, Salayea, Zorzor, Quadou Gboni, Kolahun, Foya and Vahun.
According to LINA, Rev. Zayzay also disclosed that phase two of the distribution which is expected to take place in March 2015, will target the disabled community in Lofa County.
Rev. Dominic Zayzay has meanwhile lauded the efforts of citizens of Lofa, the government and partners as well as the Lofa County Health Team (LCHT) and health workers for their commitment to the fight against the deadly Ebola virus in the county.
