VOINJAMA, August 25 (LINA) - Citizens of Duogomai Town in Zogolemai Township, Voinjama District in Lofa County, have imposed a 90-day restriction on the entry of strangers into their town.

Making the disclosure in an interview with the Liberia News Agency recently, Duogomai Town Chief Woiyea Kollie said citizens and authorities of the town took the decision during a mass meeting as part of preventive measures against the spread of Ebola and other diseases.

He said the measure, which took effect on August 21, is a result of the recent outbreak of the Ebola virus which has claimed many lives in Zogolemai Township.

Under the measures, strangers will not be allowed to enter the town until after 90 days, while barrels and buckets full of water treated with chlorine and Clorox will be placed at every entrance to the town for residents to wash their hands, heads, feet and other parts of their bodies before leaving or entering the town.

Meanwhile, the Town Chief has disclosed that citizens of Duogomai Town have intensified measures such as brushing, cleaning and relocation of dump sites in all communities in the town to avert the spread of diseases, including Ebola, in the town.

Kollie is also urging residents in Duogomai to take the measures seriously as they are intended to protect them from the Ebola virus.
