ROBERTSPORT, August 26 (LINA) - Grand Cape Mount County Superintendent Imam Mohammed A. Paasewe has temporarily banned the observance of the Muslim traditional feast in memory of the dead.

He said the action is one of the measures formulated by the county administration to contain the spread of the Ebola virus in the county.

According to the Liberia News Agency (LINA), Imam Paasewe made the disclosure recently in Sinje Town, Garwula district, during the county Ebola Task Force coordination meeting.

At the same time, Superintendent Paasewe has also banned memorial services of the Christian community, football games and other activities that attract huge gathering of citizens in the county as part of preventive measures against the spread of the Ebola virus.

He said the administration of the county will not allow any citizen to engage in acts that have the propensity to spread the virus.

In a related development, Superintendent Paasewe has warned those who are in the habit of spreading information that there is no Ebola in the country to desist, noting that government will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute them.
