MONROVIA, August 27 (LINA) - Information Minister Lewis G. Brown has disclosed that the spread of the Ebola virus has intensified in and around Monrovia and reiterated calls for Liberians to abide by preventive measures to save their lives.
He reported that progress was being made in the quarantined West Point community in Monrovia, and appealed to county authorities to take the lead in preventing the further spread of the virus in their respective areas.
According to the Liberia News Agency, the Information Minister made the disclosure Wednesday when he appeared on ELBC Radio’s “Ebola Hour” program in Paynesville City.
He also disclosed that some Liberian students travelling abroad for further studies were denied entry into a certain country on the basis of suspicion that they may be carriers of the virus. He did not name the country.
Minister Brown said despite attempts to isolate Liberia, the Government continues to seek partnership with its local communities in the fight to eradicate the virus from the country, saying “this is gaining momentum.”
Meanwhile, Minister Brown has lauded SN Brussels for its decision to continue flights to Liberia while other airlines have banned flights to the country.
