GBARNGA, August 28 (LINA) - Vice President Joseph N. Boakasi has donated several medical and food items to the Bong County Ebola Task Force.

The items include 25 bags of rice, 10 cartons of chloride, two cartons of Personal Protective Equipment, one carton nose masks and several other medical supplies.

Making the donation Thursday in the Gbarnga Administrative Hall, Vice
President Boakai said his stopover was to reassure Bong County citizens of government’s commitment to bring the Ebola situation under control.

According to Vice President Boakai, strict adherence to medical advice will greatly help in the fight against the disease.

“This is not time for argument but rather a time for unity against the virus that is killing our people in nearly nine of our 15 counties,” stressed the Liberian Vice President.

He has, meanwhile, lauded health workers for the role they continue to play in the delivery of health services though some of them continue to die while trying to save lives.

He then presented a recording of his Ebola message to the city’s two community radio stations and 40 gallons of gasoline as his contribution to have the message aired.

In remarks, Bong County Superintendent, Selena Polson Mappy, lauded Vice President Boakai for the materials, noting, that she was relieved by his statement that leaders of the county have the right to use any public facility to respond to the situation at hand.

She called on those resisting use of the county football field as a temporary holding center to join the county leadership in using the facility to save the lives of their infected compatriots.

“Once we continue to have sick people among us, the more contacts will be made and the sicker we will continue to be and there will be reports of death in our county,” she noted.

The Vice President is en route to Lofa, his home county.
