MONROVIA, August 30 (LINA) - Deputy Information Minister for Technical Services, Robert Kpadeh, has lauded the Liberian media for their reportage on the fight against the deadly Ebola virus.

Minister Kpadeh explained that the media has forgone its own safety to brave infectious zones and areas of tension in order to acquire facts for delivery to the public.

He pointed out that the information provided by the media has been critical in getting people to engage in the behavior changes which have led to the preventive steps being adopted by the public.

Speaking Friday at the Ministry’s daily press briefing, Minister Kpadeh said this coverage is not restricted to “bad news” but extends to the successes Liberia has scored in the Ebola fight.

He named some of those successes as the recovery of several health workers from the disease and the level of international support Ebola-affected countries are receiving.

Minister Kpadeh informed the media that all is not lost and that Ebola can be defeated.

He said if other countries were able to get rid of Ebola, it is certain that Liberia will also overcome this outbreak, noting that the public will be sincerely indebted to those members of the media who provided it with the information used to ensure their survival.
