VOINJAMA, August 31 (LINA) -The World Health Organization (WHO) doctor assigned to Lofa County has called on the County Health Team (CHT) and partners to be more proactive in the fight against theEbla virus in the county.

Dr. Clement Peter said there is an urgent need for the Lofa CHT and partners to move speedily into areas where there are reports of new Ebola cases in the county.

According to the Liberia News Agency, Dr. Peter also wants local leaders of affected communities to take the lead in battling the Ebola virus through the creation of awareness and providing accurate information to the CHT and partners.

The WHO doctor was speaking recently during an Ebola Coordination meeting held at the Midwives Association Hall in Voinjama City, Lofa County.

Lofa County, where the first case of Ebola was recorded in Liberia, is among counties that have reported huge numbers of Ebola cases in the country.

Areas currently recording large numbers of Ebola cases in Lofa County are Kolahun and Quadou Gboni Districts.
