TUBMANBURG, September 2(LINA) -Two persons have survived the deadly Ebola virus in Tubmanburg, Bomi County, according to the Coordinator of the Bomi County Ebola Task Force, Mr. Samuel Brown.

Brown, who is also Superintendent of Bomi County, said the survivors are among 22 individuals confirmed and taken to the quarantine unit for observation and treatment in the month of August.

He told the Liberia News Agency in an interview Monday that there were 34 Ebola-related deaths, bringing to 56 the total number of Ebola-related cases reported in Bomi County in the course of last month.

He said those that were under observation at the holding center have been returned to their communities by the County Health Team after being kept for the required 21 days.

Meanwhile, Superintendent Brown has said that during the month of August, Bomi County received through the Ministry of Internal Affairs a total of US$26,350 to enhance its fight against the Ebola disease.

He said US$22,000 of this amount was used to purchase buckets, microphones, and provide training and incentives for 145 volunteer workers, while the US$3,600 was used to purchase fuel for the vehicles and motorbikes being used by the county health team.

According to Brown, the ruling Unity Party provided US$750 as contribution to the county, and Bomi citizens residing in Montserrado County provided mattresses, buckets and sensitization materials to the county task force in the course of the month.

Brown said the New Desert Assembly Church in Brewerville provided food items, drugs and PPE materials to help it in fight against the disease.

He then called on community organizations, chiefs and community leaders to visit their relatives and educate them about the preventive measures, noting that this will help to reduce the rate of infection in the county.
