MONROVIA, September 3 (LINA) - Montserrado County Representative, Edwin M. Snowe, has urged Liberians to assist the government in the national economic recovery process rather than engage in negative politics.
He said indulging into acts of distraction would only hamper government’s effort to strengthen the growth of the country’s economy, with adverse consequences.
Snowe observed that the current fight against the Ebola virus has plunged the economy into a state of regression that needs to be speedily recovered to guarantee the attainment of the country’s development agenda.
Representative Snowe made the statement Tuesday when he served as guest panelist on the ELBC 99.9 Super Morning Show.
The lawmaker said the nation’s economy is going down the drain due to numerous challenges ignited by the Ebola outbreak that has diverted the attention of every Liberian, noting that Liberians can only recover through collective efforts.
Meanwhile, Snowe has frowned on the action of some individuals who are calling for the configuration of an interim regime.
“Some people claiming to be Liberians are sitting out of the country not knowing the situation in the country and they are calling for a change of government. They are mad people; they don’t love this country,” the lawmaker observed.
“Ebola is not a political tool. Some people are treating the issue of West Point and Dolo Town as if the government is punishing its own citizens; we can help our people without using the situation for political gains.” he added.
At the same time, Representative Snowe has said the statement that Liberia’s situation will get worse before it gets better as observed by the international community, should not be taken lightly, and urged all Liberians to begin to redirect their efforts in assisting government in the fight against the Ebola virus.
“Liberians are resilient people; we are strong and we can fight this disease and eradicate it from this country together,” he added.
