MONROVIA, September 3 (LINA) - Assistant Minister of Health for Preventive Services, Tolbert Nyenswah, has said that all drugs brought into the country to treat the Ebola disease will be tested before use by patients.
He made the statement in response to a question about what government was doing about the ‘Nano Silver’ drug brought into the country by former Health Minister Gbatokai Fineboy Dakinah.
The Nano Silver drug, which is made up of crystal mineral water and micro particles of refined silver, has the power to cure lots of diseases and illnesses, according to Dr. Dakinah and his team.
But, Minister Nyenswah said though government is “very appreciative” of interventions by individuals and countries, the preservation of citizens’ lives was paramount to the government and it will not allow any drug to be experimented on its citizens.
Speaking at the Ministry of Information daily press briefing held in the Charles Gbenyon Conference Hall on Tuesday, Assistant Minister Nyenswah added that the Ministry of Health considers as important the testing of medicines for substance quality.
He added that there is a team responsible for case management of those medications, which will look at the content of the medicines being offered to the government.
