BUCHANAN, September 3 (LINA) - The Catholic Health Center in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County, has reopened for normal business after weeks of closure.

Officer-In-Charge Moses Jackson told the Liberia News Agency that the closure of the center was prompted by the infection of health workers through an Ebola patient from Rivercess County, who died upon arrival at the center.

He explained that three of the staff who received the patient got infected with the virus, while the general supervisor who came in contact with the victim was sent to the ELWA Hospital for treatment where he later died.

He said the two nurses were treated and discharged.

Mr. Jackson said thereafter, the center was closed for spraying and general clean-up on July 31, saying the administration has now put in place proper mechanisms to deal with suspected Ebola patients.

He said upon completion of the measures, the center was reopened on September 1 for normal operations.

He then praised Buchanan City Mayor Julia Bono for her assistance in making sure that all of the facilities at the center were sprayed by a team of experts.
