KAKATA, September 16 (LINA) -The Administration of the C. H. Rennie Memorial Hospital in Kakata City, Margibi County has finally started receiving patients following weeks of closure due to the loss of several nurses and other staff to the Ebola virus.

The Community Health Services Director, Mr. Joseph Korhene made the disclosure Monday in Kakata during the regular weekly County Ebola Task Force meeting.

Making the announcement, Mr. Koehene said though the hospital was declared open two weeks ago, it could not receive patients due to specialized training that was ongoing before the resumption of full operations.

He clarified that the hospital will receive patients at “a very low scale” starting September 15, until all its required personnel shall have completed the specialized training before receiving full case loads.

Korhene also indicated that they are putting all these measures in place to avoid the reinfection of their health workers while performing their duties.

It can be recalled that on August 5 the C. H. Rennie Memorial Hospital which is the only government referral hospital in Margibi County, was forced to shut down when several health workers got infected with the Ebola virus.

The situation caused the deaths of over 20 of the hospital’s senior nurses, while other essential staff also died in the process.
