KONMINGA, GBARPOLU COUNTY, September 16 (LINA) -The Management of Belle Resource Mining Company (BRMC), prospecting for gold in Konminga Chiefdom, has provided assorted medical supplies and food items to the people of the Chiefdom.
According to Belle Resource Management, both the drugs and food items are estimated at US$9,756.36.
The drugs are to be used by the Henry Town Clinic, while the food items will be distributed among the elderly, vulnerable and children residing in the Chiefdom.
The medical supplies included a range of drugs and vitamins, while the food and non-food items were 88 bags of rice, 28 cartons of powder soap, 20 cartons of salt, 21 cartons of sardine, 6 cartons of cooking cube, seven cartoons of food seasoning, 30 cartons of brown beans, 18 cartons of Clorox, 20 cartons of powder milk, among others.
Presenting the items to the county authorities recently in Henry Town, the Deputy local Staff Manager of the Company, Mr. James Devin, said the donation was the company’s way of identifying with the people of the chiefdom in the wake of the outbreak of the Ebola epidemic in the country.
He said the company intends to continue to identify with the citizens by providing other basic social services and good road network.
Devin, however, admitted that the company has temporally closed down due to the outbreak of the deadly disease, adding that when the condition improves, the company will resume full operations.
Receiving the medical supplies the Co-Chairman of the Gbarpolu Ebola Task Force, Dr. Anthony Tucker, the Officer-In-Charge of the Clinic, Gayetay Gaye, said the donation to the health center was the first and biggest donation ever made to the Clinic by any private individual or company since it began operation in 2007.
Speaking earlier, Gbarpolu County Development Superintendent, Madam Yassa Karmon-Fallah, said she was gratified by the donation made by Belle Resource especially at a time when the county was going through the Ebola crisis as well as bad road networks.
