HARPER, September 19 (LINA) -The Emergency Response Unit (ERU) of the Liberia National Police has launched a massive search for seven inmates who escaped from the Harper Central Prison in Maryland County.
According to the County Police Commander, David Walker, the prisoners escaped during the routine clean up of the prison.
Commander Walker told the Liberia News Agency that the inmates were brought out of the cell by the deputy prison superintendent, Moses Allison, to clean the corridor when they pounced on him and escaped.
The escapees committed gang and statutory rape, criminal attempt to commit murder and aggravated assault, among others.
Meanwhile, deputy prison superintendent Allison has been admitted at the J.J Dossen Hospital, where he is presently undergoing treatment after the attack by the fugitives.
