MONROVIA September 20 (LINA) - Assistant Health Minister for Preventive Services, Tolbert Nyenswah, has said there still remains hope for the Ebola virus to be eradicated from Liberia in the shortest possible time.

He made the statement against the background that Liberia is now receiving a major boost and support from the U.S government and international community.

Minister Nyenswah was speaking Friday at the Ministry of Information special press conference in Monrovia.

He said efforts have been increasingly stepped up by the government of Liberia in collaboration with the international community to firmly break the chain of transmission of the disease so that it can be eradicated soon.

Nyenswah, who heads the incidence management system on EVD, called on Liberians to support the efforts of health teams by reporting cases of the virus on time so that there can be a timely response to save the lives of innocent Liberians.

Nyenswah has also said that the Bushrod Island region in Monrovia needs to be treated as a high priority given the alarming rate of EVD cases being reported in that area.

He said efforts to respond quickly to the people of the Bushrod Island will be made possible as the Island Clinic which contains 150 beds will soon start operations.
