GBARNGA, September 21 (LINA) - Bong County Senator Jewel Howard-Taylor has called on government and international partners to strategize on how to address psychological and social needs of victims of the Ebola disease.

 She cited the situation of an unidentified eight-year-old girl of the Millionaire Quarter in Gbarnga, Bong County as one of many cases that needs to be addressed through programs targeting psycho-social issues emanating from Ebola. She said the girl was left in a psychological situation when her parents, grandmother, and five others living in a household died of the Ebola disease last month, noting that the Ebola Response Team “came to her rescue at the house and took her to a quarantine center.” She noted that identifying and addressing the psychological and social needs of people devastated by the disease is one that government and international partners need to give keen attention, adding “or else the freshness of the virus will continue to be on the minds of victims.” Meanwhile, Taylor, in an interview with Liberia News Agency at the weekend, lauded UNMIL for donating two generators, 500 pieces of hand washing containers and chlorine to the Bong County Ebola Taskforce at the weekend. She noted that the donation “is not a surprise to any Liberians” because “the mission has continuously supported government in nearly all of its undertakings.”LINA BK/JGT/PTK
