MONROVIA, September 18 (LINA) - The World Bank Country Director for Liberia, Inguna Dobraja, has said the US$105 million grant given to three West African Ebola-affected countries will be managed by the recipients under the supervision of United Nations agencies.

Speaking in an interview with the Liberia News Agency via teleconference Wednesday, Dobraja explained that Guinea will receive US$25 million, while Sierra Leone and Liberia will get US$28 million and US$52 million respectively.

She said the grant is expected to be made available next week, noting, “I hope governments in the Mano River Basin would within three months distribute it expeditiously in order to eradicate the virus from their region.”

Some of the most visible UN offices in the fight against the Ebola disease have been the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) and the World Food Program (WFP).

WHO has been involved with treatments and health interventions, while UNICEF has led response to orphaned children, including water, sanitation, hygiene, and social mobilization.
WFP, for its part, has been working on the restoration of food supplies to affected communities, including those under quarantine.
