MONROVIA, September 22 (LINA) - About 112 patients are currently undergoing treatment at the Island Clinic Ebola Treatment Unit (ETU), a day after the facility was officially dedicated, according to Assistant Health Minister Tolbert Nyenswah.

He said of this number, 56 were transferred from the Redemption Hospital Holding Center in New Kru Town, while the other 56 are from communities in Monrovia and its environs, who tested positive with Ebola.
Making the disclosure at the Ministry of Information daily Ebola press briefing in Monrovia on Monday, Nyenswah said the Health Ministry and its partners are working out plans to set up Ebola Care Centers (ECC) in communities to enable caregivers provide a level of care for suspected Ebola patients until they can be moved to an ETU.
According to Nyenswah, Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) has committed to building ECCs in Margibi and that final arrangement as to their location are being discussed with an expectation that the ECCs will be operational this week.

He pointed out that technical committees in partnership with partners and donors are organizing training on Prevention and Control, ETU Support, Waste Management, Spraying, Dead Body Management and ECC Standard Operation Protocols.
