KAKATA, September 22 (LINA) - Margibi County Superintendent John Buway says there is a need to synchronize the National Ebola Plan that the County Ebola Task Force can replicate in its fight against the virus in the county.
He said his concern comes against the backdrop that there seems to be no coherence in the dissemination of vital Ebola messages in the county and as a result there were so many local and international groups engaged in public awareness campaigns in the county.
Buway told the Liberia News Agency Monday that although he appreciates their efforts, there was need for coherence in the message and information to avoid distortion.
He said despite the efforts being exerted in the fight against the Ebola virus, there still remains a strong pocket of denial and disbelief that was undermining the effort of the County Ebola Task Force.
The Superintendent stressed the need to create more and diversified public awareness about the Ebola pandemic in Margibi County that would impact the denial syndrome and help curb the spread of the disease.
Buway also expressed concern about reports of new cases of Ebola in the county after putting in place a structure to contain it, noting that the effort was not yielding the expected rapid and fruitful results.
Buway called on members of the County Task Force to redouble their efforts in devising ways and means through which they can help to unleash a massive public awareness campaign throughout Margibi County.
Margibi is one of the counties hardest hit with over 120 persons, including over 24 health workers, already dead from the Ebola virus.
