KAKATA, September 23 (LINA) -The Firestone Medical Center has released seven additional Ebola patients after undergoing successful treatment for the disease at its Ebola Treatment Unit in Du- Side, Margibi County.
The seven persons bring to 13 the total number of persons who have been treated and reintegrated into their communities by the Center since the outbreak of the disease in the country in March 2014.
They had all tested positive for Ebola but proved negative after undergoing intensive treatment at the medical center.
According to the Liberia News Agency, those released include Madam Lela Glay of Dolo Town, Mr. Moses Fofana , Little Stephen Koheneh , Madam Mary Kanneh, Mary David and Jeremiah Mulbah of Division number 24, Firestone.
At a formal program held in Harbel, Margibi County over the weekend, the Medical Director of Firestone, Dr. Lyndon Mabande, said he and his teamhave been working overtime to ensure that these patients received the needed attention to survive after being infected with the virus.
Dr. Mabande said amidst the rapid spread of the Ebola virus in the country, the management of Firestone Liberia has put in place medical standards of infection control and prevention at its ETU to avoid any incident of their medical staff being infected.
He said the management of Firestone is complementing government’s effort in the fight against the deadly Ebola disease at all fronts adding, “We are not just providing treatment to Firestone employees and their dependents but to others who come knocking on their doors.”
He indicated that the management of Firestone Liberia remains open to government assistance to the medical center.
Speaking on behalf of the Ebola survivors, Jeremiah Mulbah, a Firestone employee, thanked the Center for the care and services rendered them during their treatment.
Mr. Mulbah said “it was a very difficult thing for me and fellow survivors to have experienced and to see us being released and reintegrated into society is very astonishing.
