MONROVIA, September 30 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has said the construction of more facilities to enhance the fight against the Ebola virus and prevent it from spreading remains paramount.

She said this was part of a National Strategy presented to the National Legislature during a closed-door meeting in their joint chamber at the Capitol Building Monday, according to Presidential Press Secretary Jerolinmek Piah.

Piah told journalists that the national strategy, endorsed by members of the National Ebola Task Force last weekend, also includes partnership support in the fight, resources needed as well as government’s economic recovery plan during and after the outbreak.

He further disclosed that the Liberian leader’s visit to the National Legislature was also intended to promote information sharing within the government, strengthen coordination and collaboration and enhance transparency.

Mr. Piah said during the meeting, President Sirleaf also briefed the lawmakers on the overall situation of the disease as well as efforts being exerted by government to eradicate it and improve the wellbeing of the citizenry.

He said the Liberian leader also lauded the efforts of Montserrado County District No. 13 Representative, Saah Joseph and the Medical Director of the ELWA-II Ebola Treatment Center, Dr. Jerry Fahnloe Brown, and his team for their selfless efforts in their services to humanity and called on the legislators to emulate them.

The Liberian President was accompanied to the Capitol Building by Finance and Development Planning Minister-designate Amara Konneh, Information Minister Lewis Brown, Youth and Sports Minister Eugene Nagbe and Presidential Press Secretary Piah.
