KAKATA, October 5 (LINA) - Save the Children International (SCI) will establish a Community Care Center in Margibi County to increase caring facilities and treatment units for probable and suspected Ebola patients.

Speaking to the Liberia News Agency Saturday, SCI Chief Executive Officer Caroline Miles said the facility will be monitored by trained medical practitioners who will also consider caring for pregnant women and children who are Ebola free.

According to her, the center when established will also enable Ebola victims, who are undergoing treatment, have access to their families as well as care for orphaned children, providing full health care services under the entity’s child protection program.

Miles pointed out that the program, which is expected to initially lasts for six months, will cost US$8.1million, adding “Save the Children is committed in ensuring that the basic needs of  children made orphans by the (Ebola) outbreak, are met.”

Initially, SCI has identified the Kakata and Dolo’s Town health centers as the start-up points, before expanding to other communities across Margibi County, she said.

Meanwhile, Miles has extolled health workers in Margibi County for their commitment in the face of the Ebola outbreak and extended her condolences to the families of those who lost their lives while providing care and saving the lives of others.
