MONROVIA, October 6 (LINA) -Assistant Health Minister for Preventive Services, Tolbert Nyeswah, has disclosed that a total number of 4,500 Ebola cases were tested in Liberia between June and September 2014.

Nyenswah said 55 percent of the number of cases tested positive, while the rest were negative.
According to the Liberia News Agency, Assistant Minister Nyeswah made the disclosure Monday during the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) regular press briefing in Monrovia.
Meanwhile, Nyeswah has disclosed that the two US Navy mobile laboratories brought into the country have been installed at the Ebola Treatment Centers at Island Clinic on Bushrod Island in Montserrado County and in Bong County.
Nyeswah said the installation of the two laboratories has given the Ministry of Health and partners the ability to test 500 cases daily and make quick decisions regarding results.
He added that prior to the installation of the two mobile laboratories, the Ministry and partners operated only three laboratories in Montserrado, Bong and Lofa Counties.
He pointed out that as more Ebola Treatment Centers are established across the country; the number of laboratories will increase, thereby boosting the fight against the Ebola virus in Liberia.
Assistant Minister Nyeswah has revealed that Liberia is making significant progress in the fight against the killer disease, adding that the government will make its official position known on the progress made so far at the appropriate time.
