HARPER, October 11 (LINA)-The managements of two companies operating in Pleebo, Maryland County, have said they will do everything to assist the county Ebola taskforce in containing the spread of the disease in the county.
The Cavalla Rubber Corporation and Maryland Oil Palm Plantation companies said the fight against the deathly disease should be the concern of all Marylanders and not government alone.
Mr. John Barkemeni, Deputy Manager of the Cavalla Rubber Corporation made the pledge Friday at the J.J Dossen Hospital in Harper, when he presented a consignment of medical supplies jointly donated by the two companies to the county Ebola Task Force.
He said the donation was the initial contribution of the two companies who, according to him, are very concerned about the spread of the virus in the county and want it contained.
Receiving the supplies, the County Health Officer of Maryland, Dr. Odell Kumeh, commended the two companies for the donation which she described as timely, noting that everything donated was needed by the task force to contain the spread of the Ebola virus in the county.
In remarks, the WHO Technical Assistant to the Maryland County Health Team, Dr. Brian Asiinwe, expressed gratitude to the two companies for the gesture, noting that it will help strengthen the capacity of the county Ebola task force in preventing the spread of the virus.
For his part, the UNMIL head of field office, Mr. Tom Mtaisi, urged Marylanders to become actively involved in the fight against Ebola since support to the effort has intensified.
The supplies include, Chlorine, gloves, sprayers, sodium, Clorox, personal protective equipment, medical suits, cash and others worth several thousand United States Dollars
