TUBMANBURG, OCTOBER 13 (LINA) –An Ebola Treatment Unit (ETU) is under construction in Tubmanburg, Bomi County.

The Coordinator of the Bomi County Task Force (BCTF) and Superintendent of the county, Samuel F. Brown, who made the disclosure, said the American Army, the Engineering Battalion of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), are jointly constructing the unit.

Speaking an interview with the Liberia News Agency in Tubmanburg Monday, Superintendent Brown noted that funding for the project came from the American Government, but said the cost of the project has not been disclosed to the County Task Force.

He said construction of the ETU, which started October 6, will be completed within three weeks and ready to receive infected Ebola patients in the county for treatment.

Superintendent Brown said the construction of the ETU will boost the efforts of the County Health Team (CHT) in the fight against the Ebola disease.

He said it will also bring relief to the people of Bomi and restore confidence in them that the Ebola disease can be treated in the county.

The County Coordinator said the Unit will accommodate between 30 and 40 beds.

Meanwhile, the County Ebola Task Force Coordinator has urged people who show symptoms of the disease to report for early treatment, as early treatment saves lives and produces survivors.

He also urged them to continue to observe the preventive measures put in place by health authorities, and report sick people to the County Health Team.

The ETU is situated adjacent the Liberian Government Hospital and opposite Radio Bomi in Tubmanburg.
