HARPER, October 18 (LINA) - Maryland County Health Officer (CHO), Dr. Odell Kumeh, has urged residents of the county to live as if Ebola was in their immediate environment.

Dr. Kumeh said there was no need for Marylanders to jubilate that their county is Ebola free while the battle against the virus in the country still continues.
Dr. Kumeh, who is head of the County Health Team, proffered the advice Thursday during an Ebola update meeting held at the County Administrative Building in Harper.

During the meeting attended by representatives of UNMIL and WHO, Dr Kumeh disclosed that a 35-year-old man has been quarantined along with several others from the Hoffman Station Community in Harper.

The man, whose identity is being withheld, was reportedly passing bloody stool and was experiencing running stomach, prompting the isolation for observation.

Meanwhile, Dr. Kumeh has disclosed that a community care center is being constructed by the UNHCR at the Little Wlebo Refugee Camp in Maryland County, while authorities of Barrobo District have provided a site for the construction of another community care center in the county.

The Maryland CHO has commended the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) and the media for efforts in preventing the spread of the virus in Maryland County.

Maryland County has not registered any confirmed Ebola case since the outbreak of the disease in the country in March this year.
