MONROVIA October 18 (LINA) -Assistant Health Minister for Preventive Services, Tolbert Nyenswah, has called on the public to utilize laboratory facilities at Ebola Treatment Units (ETUs) across the country to prevent the spread of the disease.

Nyenswah said it was important for people experiencing signs of fever or symptoms of the virus to quickly report for testing to determine whether they are suffering from the Ebola virus or not.

“We are running testing facilities that are 99 percent sensitive in producing results,” he told Liberians.
He spoke Friday at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism Daily Ebola News Conference held in the Charles Gbenyon Conference Hall in Monrovia.

Nyenswah also indicated that government is working with its international partners to build a health system which will be able to effectively respond to the country’s current and future health demands.
The Assistant Health Minister emphasized that there was no need for people to be afraid to be tested because not everyone who goes to be tested is positive, saying: “currently the negative cases are higher than the positives.”

“Liberia’s Ebola crisis is now experiencing a major boost with significant efforts being made by international partners to deploy several mobile labs, including the first virus hemorrhagic fever lab was set up by the U.S Department of Defense,” Nyenswah pointed out.
