MONROVIA, Nov 1 (LINA)-The Liberia Marketing Association (LMA) has warned that the ban on the sale of bush meat is still in force and that any marketer caught violating this mandate will face the full weight of the law.

The National Vice President of the LMA, Mr. Gidan Sherman, also appealed to marketers throughout the country who were previously selling bush meat to begin to sell other commodities until the ban is lifted by the government.

Speaking in interview with the Liberia News Agency at his United Nations Drive office in Monrovia on Saturday, November 1, Sherman said he was sounding the warning because people who were trading in bush meat before the outbreak of the Ebola virus continue to go to his office to ask for a lifting of the ban on the sale of bush meat.

The LMA vice president reminded that the ban on the sale of bush meat was imposed by the government as a precautionary measure against the spread of the deadly Ebola virus.

This, he added, is because it has been discovered that bush meat is a carrier of the Ebola virus
